Slope of a Line

    0.01 sec.
Slope of a Line

In the equation of a line in the plane y = kx + b (seeANALYTIC GEOMETRY), the coefficient k is called the slope of the line. The slope characterizes the inclination of the line relative to the x-axis. In a rectangular coordinate system the slope k = tan φ, where φ is the angle the line makes with the positive x-axis, the angle being measured counterclockwise.

The latter is related to the slope of a line called the Performance Characteristic Line (PCL).
The diagram is not a conventional graph since it only has meaning for integer values of n, but the slope of a line joining any two points is proportional to minus E degree, the electrode potential between the two species.
