Slutskii, Anton

Slutskii, Anton Iosifovich 

Born 1884 in Warsaw; died Apr. 24, 1918, near Alushta. Participant in the October armed uprising in Petrograd and in the establishment of Soviet power in the Crimea.

Slutskii joined the revolutionary movement in 1905. He was often arrested and sent into exile. After the February Revolution of 1917 he was a party organizer at the Obukhov Factory in Petrograd and a member of the Petrograd Committee of the RSDLP(B). A delegate to the Sixth Congress of the RSDLP(B), Slutskii was elected a member of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee at the Second All-Russian Congress of Soviets. In March 1918 he became chairman of the Council of People’s Commissars of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Tavrida (Crimea). Slutskii was shot to death by counterrevolutionaries.
