The metal casting comprising the piston chambers of a multicylinder internal combustion engine. Also known as block; engine block.

One of Chevrolets other claims to fame lies with its small-block V8 design, which has remained in continuous production since its debut in 1955, longer than any other mass produced engine in the world.
2-litre small-block V8 which is said to give the Vette a top speed of 200mph.
To claim that GM's small-block engine has earned a place in history would be an understatement.
