Smith, Winthrop

Smith, Winthrop (Hiram, Jr.) (1949–  ) financial services executive; born in New York City. He graduated from Amherst in 1971, took a graduate business degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 1974, and joined Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith (now Merrill, Lynch) as an investment banker. He rose through a series of management positions to become the firm's national sales director in 1990.
