Smoke-Puff Charge
a device for simulating bursts of artillery shells. The device is used in tactical exercises and training practice. The smoke-puff charge has a water-impermeable jacket within which about 80 g of black powder are placed. The explosion is produced by igniting a safety fuse in the jacket. The explosion of the smoke-puff charge releases a medium-loud report and a small cloud of white smoke. The device presents an explosion hazard, and precautionary measures are taken when storing and using it. Want to thank TFD for its existence?
