So Hui
Born 944; died 998. Korean military and political figure. During the Khitan invasion of the state of Koryo in 993, So Hui was commander of the Second Army and organized the military defense of the state. As a result of successful negotiations, he obtained a pledge from the Khitans to leave Korea. In 994 and 995, So Hui subdued the Jurchens, who had occupied the region between the Chongchon and Amnok rivers, and built a defense line of six fortresses, which ensured Koryo’s control over the territory north of the Chongchon.
