social bookmarking
Ranking a Web site by users who like the content rather than by the total number of links to the site. Social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us (http://del.icio.us) let users tag their favorite sites with key words and post them for others to see. See folksonomy and page ranking.

Tag Your Favorite Site
del.icio.us offers browser tools for tagging sites. For example, clicking Tag in the Firefox browser opens a window for adding notes and descriptive tags to the site before posting it.

The power of social bookmarks is the voting system.
Social bookmarks play a big role in promoting your website, since whenever your site is bookmarked it will be tagged along relevant sites and become recommended when people search for related content.
By adding a simple button to your web site people can easily add your site to their social bookmarks to be shared with the world(and more importantly search engine spiders).
