95 metre aperture wide-field Schmidt camera was launched on a Delta II rocket into an Earth-trailing solar orbit 1,530km behind the Earth, where it will have an uninterrupted view of a 105 square degree section of sky in Cygnus and Lyra (see front cover image).
0 million years ago was 'pulsed', and each pulse lasted 19,000 years, corresponding to cyclic 'oscillations' in Earth's solar orbit associated with the Ice Ages.
Also, solar wind-implanted particles are more abundant on the far side, because the Earth shields the Moon's near side from the solar wind for part of each solar orbit.
