Sovetskaia Arkheologiia 

(Soviet Archaeology), a journal published by the Institute of Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Published since 1957, Sovetskaia arkhe-ologiia replaced a collection of 30 volumes under the same name issued between 1936 and 1959. Sovetskaia arkheologiia publishes reports on the important findings of Soviet archaeologists and on archaeological research abroad. It includes articles on various topics related to archaeology, ancient history, economics, social systems, ideology, and ancient and medieval art. It also publishes new archaeological findings, critical reviews of Soviet and foreign archaeological literature, and articles on archaeological research methods. Circulation, 3,200 (1978).
