Sovetskaia Bashkiriia 

(Soviet Bashkiria), a republic-wide Russian-language newspaper of the Bashkir ASSR. One of the oldest party newspapers in the Urals, Sovetskaia Bashkiriia was founded to replace the newspaper Ufimskii rabochii (The Ufa Worker), founded in 1906. Beginning in 1919, the newspaper was published as Izvestiia Ufimskogo gubernskogo revoliutsionnogokomiteta (News of the Ufa Province Revolutionary Committee). After changing names several times, it assumed its present name in 1952. The newspaper is published in Ufa six times a week. Circulation, 170,000 (1975). Sovetskaia Bashkiriia was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1967.
