Sovetskaia Tatariia 

(Soviet Tataria), a republic-wide Russian-language daily newspaper of the Tatar ASSR; published in Kazan. The first issue came out in April 1917 under the name Rabochii (The Worker). The newspaper was closed down during the July days of 1917. After the victory of the October Revolution of 1917, it came out under the name Znamia revoliutsii (Banner of the Revolution). After changing its name several times, it assumed its present name in 1951. Circulation, 175,000 (1975). Sovetskaia Tatariia was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor in 1967.
