Spencer, Lilly (or Lilli) (b. Angelique Marie Martin) (1822–1902) painter; born in Exeter, England. Her French parents emigrated to America (1830) and lived in Marietta, Ohio (1833). She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio (1841), married (1844), and settled in New York City (1848). The breadwinner of her family, she was a genre painter, as in Picnic, Fourth of July (c. 1864).
