Spencer, Niles (1893–1952) painter; born in Pawtucket, R.I. After study at the Rhode Island School of Design (1913), and with George Bellows and Robert Henri in New York (1915), he traveled frequently in Europe but was based in Provincetown, Mass. He painted abstract landscapes, such as Two Bridges (1947).
