From the early 50s through the 60s we were in the mainframe era, dominated by IBM, with Burroughs, Honeywell, Sperry Univac and RCA among the competitors.
Honeywell and Sperry Univac, spent large sums of money and increased manpower to develop manufacturing technology for future systems internally.
Founded more than 100 years ago as Burroughs who were known for their adding machines, the company merged in 1986 with Sperry Univac to become Unisys.
