Sphaeritidae
a family of beetles closely related to the family Histeridae. There is one genus, with three species. Sphaerites glabratus is distributed in Northern Europe and Siberia. The greenish black oval body is 4.5–5.5 mm long. The beetles usually live in rotting wood; they can be found in the fermenting sap of trees. The family has not been studied extensively.
