(Athletic Games), a monthly illustrated magazine on sports and sports methodology; organ of the Committee on Physical Culture and Sports of the USSR. Published in Moscow since 1955, the magazine deals with game strategy, the theory and practice of team sports, and the techniques and methods used in training and coaching the better athletes and teams in the USSR and other countries. It also reports on and gives the results of international and national competitions and carries statistical and other information on various athletic games. In addition to fiction and photoreports, Sportivnye Igry publishes articles on the development of team sports in various sports organizations. It also gives advice to sports enthusiasts on training and coaching and on the organization of athletic contests. Circulation, 170,000 (1975).
