Spremberg

 

a city in the German Democratic Republic, in the Bezirk (district) of Cottbus, on the Spree River. Population, 22,500 (1975). Spremberg produces textiles, plastics, and iron alloys. A 450-megawatt thermal power plant is located in the city.
