St. Sophia Chronicle

    0.01 sec.
St. Sophia Chronicle

a chronicle codex compiled at the Cathedral of St. Sophia in Novgorod. Fragments of the St. Sophia Chronicle have been preserved in later chronicle codices. The St. Sophia Chronicle can be reconstructed from direct references made to it in various chronicles. In the opinion of some scholars, the chronicle was compiled in approximately 1432 by Matvei Mikhailov, who also included many entries about his family affairs. The first section of the St. Sophia Chronicle contains excerpts from the Primary Compilation, a chronicle older than the Primary Chronicle.
