Staatsburgh State Historic Site Location: Off NYS Route 9, midway between Hyde Park and Rhinebeck. Facilities: Picnic area (é), historic house, interpretive displays (é), scenic view, gift shop (é), hiking trail, bike trail. Activities: Guided tours, hiking, bicycling, cross-country skiing, educational programs. Special Features: Site is the country home of Ogden Mills and his wife, Ruth Livingston Mills. Mills Mansion is an elegant example of the great estates built by America's financial and industrial leaders during the Gilded Age. At its completion in 1896, the mansion contained 65 rooms and 14 bathrooms, and its interior was lavishly decorated in the styles of 17th- and 18th-century France. The house has been restored to its original appearance.
