Stadtman, Thressa C. (Campbell) (1920– ) biochemist; born in Sterling, N.Y. She was a nutrition assistant at Cornell (1942–43), performed research in food microbiology at the University of California: Berkeley (1943–47), and was a research assistant at Harvard (1949–50) before joining the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (Bethesda, Md.) (1950). She made major advances in studies of amino acid metabolism, vitamin B12-dependent enzymes (with husband and collaborator Earl Stadtman), microbial biochemistry, and the biochemistry of selenium.
