Location: East-central California. Accessible by US 395; CA 4, 108, and 120. Nearby cities/towns include Angels Camp, Groveland, Jamestown, and Sonora.
Facilities: 55 campgrounds, dispersed camping, picnic sites, trails (1,000+ miles), ORV area, winter recreation area, 2 ski resorts.
Activities: Camping, hunting, fishing, boating, canoeing, whitewater rafting, swimming, water-skiing, hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, ORV riding, cross-country and downhill skiing, snowmobiling, interpretive programs.
Special Features: Almost 5000 archeological and historical sites, 6 of which are on the National Register of Historic Places; Bower Cave, a limestone cavern that has native American sacred values; Wild and Scenic rivers: 29 miles of the Tuolumne and 11 miles of the Merced.
