Starve Hollow State Recreation Area Location: 6 miles south of Brownstown, Indiana. Facilities: 55 electric and 125 nonelectric campsites, all with restrooms and showers, picnic areas, shelterhouses, playground, horseshoe pits, softball field, basketball and volleyball courts, mountain bike trails, nature center, 3 boat ramps, boat rental (rowboats and canoes), swimming beach, restrooms, food concessions. Activities: Camping, swimming, fishing, boating (electric motors only), mountain biking, hunting, interpretive programs. Special Features: Once the largest body of water in Indiana, Starve Hollow Lake offers some of the best fishing in the southern part of the state. The area is managed by the Indiana Division of Forestry and is not part of the state parks system.
