Year of birth unknown; died July 5, 1626. Leader of the Peasant War of 1626 in Upper Austria. Fadinger, who was probably a village craftsman and a former soldier, proved to be a talented military organizer. Under his command, the insurgents of the Peasant War of 1626 occupied nearly all of Upper Austria. During the siege of Linz, the capital of Upper Austria, Fadinger was hunted down and fatally shot by soldiers under orders from the governor of Upper Austria, who was inside the besieged city.
