Steinberg, Malcolm S. (Saul) (1930–  ) developmental biologist; born in New Brunswick, N.J. He was a research fellow at the Carnegie Institution (1956–58), moved to Johns Hopkins (1958–66), then joined Princeton (1966). He concurrently taught embryology at the Woods Hole (Mass.) Marine Biology Laboratory (1967–72, trustee 1969–77). He made major contributions to studies of animal morphogenesis and cell assembly and adhesion.
