Steindl, Imre
Born Oct. 29, 1839, in Pest; died Aug. 31, 1902, in Budapest. Hungarian architect. Steindl graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in 1867. He worked extensively on the restoration of Hungarian medieval architectural monuments. A connoisseur and enthusiast of Gothic architecture, Steindl made wide use of Gothic motifs in his designs for the New City Hall (1870–72, Budapest) and the Parliament (Budapest).
