Steinmetz's law [′stīn‚mets·əz ‚lȯ]

(electromagnetism)

The energy converted into heat per unit volume per cycle during a cyclic change of magnetization is proportional to the maximum magnetic induction raised to the 1.6 power, the constant of proportionality depending only on the material.
