Steuben Memorial State Historic Site Location: Off Star Hill Road, 2.5 miles west of Routes 12 and 28, in Remsen. Facilities: Historic site, picnic area (é), scenic view (é), gift shop. Activities: Guided tours, reenactments, educational programs. Special Features: Site honors Baron Frederick William von Steuben, known as the "Drillmaster of the American Revolution," whose wartime services are recognized by some authorities as being second only to those of George Washington. A plain, large monument marks his grave.
