Stewart, T. (Thomas) Dale, Jr. (1901– ) physical anthropologist; born in Delta, Pa. He was curator, director, and senior scientist of the National Museum of Natural History (1927–71). His research on fossil and modern skeletons demonstrated normal and pathological osseous development in prehistoric North Americans, the Neanderthals of Iraq, and the Korean War dead. |
