Stone Polygons

(stone wreaths), a type of permafrostmicrorelief consisting of a system of polygons or rings composedof aleurite surrounded by coarsely fragmented material. Theyoccur as a result of combinations of polygonal fracturing, swell-ing, and permafrost sorting of soils within the active layer inlithologically heterogeneous rocks.
