stranded wire

stranded wire
A metal wire that is made up of several smaller wires twisted together. Stranded wire is more flexible than wire with a solid core.
stranded wire [′stran·dəd ′wīr]
(electricity)
A conductor composed of a group of wires or a combination of groups of wires, usually twisted together. Also known as stranded conductor.

stranded wire
A group of small wires which is used as a single wire.
