Strauss, Robert (Schwartz) (1918– ) lawyer, government official; born in Lockhart, Texas. After working for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (1941–45), he formed a profitable Dallas law firm. He served as Democratic Party chairman (1972–77), then was President Carter's Middle Eastern envoy in 1979 and campaign manager in 1980.
