Strautman, Ivars
(also I. Strautmanis). Born July 19, 1932, in Riga. Soviet architect. From 1950 to 1956, Strautman attended the Latvian University in Riga. He was the chief artist of Riga from 1965 to 1967. He has taught at the Riga Polytechnic Institute and the Latvian Academy of Arts (since 1966). Strautman has designed tennis stadiums in Riga and Lielupe (1961), a campground (1961) and café (1969) in the city of Jurmala, a memorial complex to the victims of fascist terror in Salaspils (with others, concrete, 1961–67; Lenin Prize, 1970), and the design and construction of the Kengarags residential district in Riga (with others, 1961–71).
