Strobilus Theory

a theory on the origin of the flower according to which the flower is a special reproductive and primary bisexual shoot or sprout, the anthostrobile, which developed as a result of modifications in the entomophilous cone, or strobile. The strobilus theory contradicts the pseudanthous theory.
