Sublette, William Lewis (?1799–1845) fur trader, merchant; born in Lincoln County, Ky. He moved to Missouri around 1818 and made a fortune in the fur trade. In partnership with Jedediah Strong Smith and David E. Jackson, he brought the first wagons over the Oregon Trail to the Rocky Mountains (1830).
