SuperH

A family of RISC-based microcontrollers and microprocessors from Renesas Technology (www.renesas.com). Originally developed by Hitachi in the early 1990s with models designated as SH-1, SH-2, etc., SuperH cores have been widely used in games, computer peripherals, network devices, consumer appliances and automobiles.

The SuperH family today includes the 32-bit SH-4 and 64-bit SH-5 CPU cores and is ideally suited to multimedia applications that require a single CPU core executing a mix of general purpose code and DSP algorithms.
Renesas Technology's future plans for the SuperH product line encompass embedded microprocessors with increased CPU speed, dual-core implementation, and enhanced peripheral integration, including high-speed memory interface support.
