Surami

Surami 

an urban-type settlement in Khashuri Raion, Georgian SSR. Situated at the southern foot of the Surami Range. Connected by a railroad branch line with the Khashuri station. Population, 7,800 (1975). Surami has a factory for the production of glass containers, a winery, and a cannery. Quartz is mined nearby. Lesia Ukrainka lived several years in Surami, and a house-museum is maintained in her honor. The settlement has three sanatoriums.
