With the advent of the surgical robot, small diameter laparoscopes and other laparoscopic instrumentation, the indications for urologic laparoscopy in the pediatric population are expanding. The surgical robot is not expected to come into wider use until the FDA approves it, which may come for general surgical procedures later this month. |
