Surgut

Surgut (sr`gt), city (1989 pop. 248,000), in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Region, Siberian Russia, on the Ob river. An oil and gas center as well as a port, it is connected by rail and pipeline to the Urengsy gas fields. Surgut became a city in 1965.

MOSCOW -- Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods OJSC (NYSE: WBD), the leading Russian food and beverages producer, today announced the acquisition of 100% charter capital of Surgut City Dairy Plant (Russia), the largest milk processing enterprise in its region.
The company entered some new cities - Tula, Kaluga, Novokuznetsk, Barnaul, Surgut, Tolyatti.
The SPD oilfields are located in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, 120 kilometers southwest of Surgut.
