Surigao 

a city in the Philippines, on the northeastern part of the island of Mindanao. Capital of the province of Surigao del Norte. Population, 30,000 (1970). Surigao is a port for the export of nickel ore. The Pan-Philippine Expressway passes through the city, which also has an airport. A trade and distribution center, Surigao processes abacá and has a handicrafts industry.


Surigao 

a strait in the Philippine Archipelago, connecting the Mindanao Sea with the Pacific Ocean. Surigao Strait is approximately 100 km long and has a minimum width of about 22 km. It is 25 to 54 m deep, with a maximum depth of 1,000 m in the southwest. The currents flow in a westerly or southwesterly direction, reaching a speed of 50 cm/sec. The port city of Surigao, on Mindanao Island, is situated on the strait.

Unidentified gunmen shot to death Godofredo Linao in Barobo town, Surigao del Sur,Aaon MondayAamorning, Senior Superintendent Nestor Fajura, said in a radio interview.
The book opens with one of his most compelling--a dramatic description of the view from the Mark 37 fire-control director in USS Bennion (DD 662) as he watched a formation of Japanese battleships moving at twenty-five knots with all guns firing as they emerged from the Surigao Strait off Leyte on 25 October 1944.
Five of the fatalities were buried in landslides in Surigao Del Norte Province while others were swept by floods in the province of Lanao Del Norte and Cebu.
