Svisloch’ 

an urban-type settlement and administrative center of Svisloch’ Raion, Grodno Oblast, Byelorussian SSR. Svisloch’ is located 2.5 km from the Svisloch’ railroad station, a terminus of a branch line of the Baranovichi-Berestovitsa line. It has a combine for the production of construction materials, and a milk plant.


Svisloch’ 

a river in the Byelorussian SSR; a right tributary of the Berezina River of the Dnieper River basin. The Svisloch’ measures 327 km long and drains an area of 5,160 sq km. It originates on the Minsk Upland and flows on the Central Berezina Plain. The river is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 88 km from the mouth is 24.3 cu m per sec. The flow of the Svisloch’ is regulated by the Goholes Reservoir (area, 31 sq km) and the Osipovichi Reservoir (11.9 sq km). The river usually freezes in December; it sometimes freezes in November or February. The ice breaks up in March or early April. The city of Minsk is situated on the Svisloch’. The Osipovichi Hydroelectric Power Plant is also on the river.


Svisloch’ 

a river in the Byelorussian SSR, situated partly along the Polish border; a left tributary of the Neman. The Svisloch’ measures 137 km long and drains an area of 1,750 sq km. It originates on the Volkovysk Upland. The river is fed predominantly by snow. The mean flow rate 12 km from the mouth is 7.6 cu m per sec. High water is from February through April. Flashfloods occur in the autumn. There is a hydroelectric power plant in the lower course.
