System/36

System/36

A multiuser, multitasking minicomputer from IBM that was introduced in 1983. Superseding the System/34, it was mostly compatible with it, and System/34 programs ran in the System/36 after recompilation. The typical system supported from a handful to a couple of dozen terminals. System/36 applications had to be recompiled to run on the AS/400.
