TAWPI

TAWPI
(The Association for Work Process Improvement, Boston, MA, www.tawpi.org) A membership organization dedicated to the improvement of work processes in data capture, document and remittance processing. It was originally the OCR Users Association (OCRUA) founded in 1970, which was renamed the Recognition Technology Users Association (RTUA) in 1981. In 1993, RTUA merged with DEMA (Association for Input Technology and Management) and various OCR/Scanner/Fax associations and changed its name to TAWPI.

Responding to complexities When TAWPI began contemplating its recent redesign, "we actually did not survey members," says O'Hara.
TAWPI has only 1,500 square feet for its nine employees, "so we're happy to find people who like to work at home," says O'Hara.
TAWPI has 1,247 members, who are senior executives and systems managers in Fortune 1000 companies, career executives in government agencies at all levels, and people in the data capture/service bureau business.
