(Trusted Computing Group, Beaverton, OR, www.trustedcomputinggroup.org) The successor to the Trusted Computer Platform Alliance (TCPA), announced in 2003 by founding members AMD, HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. TCG adopted TCPA's security chip called the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) that was designed to be built into the motherboard of PCs. TCG is expected to expand TPM to cover servers and handheld devices and to push the adoption of these open standards more vigorously. See trusted computer system and Palladium.
