Tokyo, Japan, Oct 17, 2006 - (JCN Newswire) - NEC Corporation today announced the worldwide launch and availability of a new supercomputer in the SX series, model SX-8R (an enhanced version of SX-8),the world's most powerful vector supercomputer with a peak vector performance of 144 TFLOPS (TFLOPS: one trillion floating point operations per second).
The new supercomputer features 1,024 MIPS(R) processors that will deliver more than one TFLOPS (a trillion operations per second) of peak performance, 10TB (10,000GB) of online storage and 100TB of near-line StorageTek storage.
The proven design of a 10 TFLOPS workstation computer, to replace room-sized systems.
