A recent survey conducted by NFO WorldGroup (Hodge, 2003) and sponsored by TRUSTe revealed that fears related to privacy were projected to have a significant negative impact on online shopping during the 2003 holiday season. TRUSTe, the Microsoft of seal programs with more than 2,000 members, and BBBOnline, a distant second with nearly 800, scrutinize the privacy statements of potential and current members as an accountant would the books. URAC plans to work with TRUSTe, a leader in the certification of websites' privacy practices, to implement the program. |
