Tabatskuri

a drainless lake situated in the Dzhavakheti Highland, at the foot of the Trialeti and Samsari ranges in the Georgian SSR. Lake Tabatskuri covers an area of 14.2 sq km and has depths to 40.2 m; it has an average depth of 15.6 m. The length is 6.5 km, and the maximum width, 4 km. The lake, situated at an elevation of 1,991 m, is of volcanic origin. It is fed primarily by subterranean waters, and the outflow is also subterranean. The annual range of fluctuation of the water level is as much as 1.1 m. There is fishing for trout, barbel, and carp.
