In recent years, the GPHA has taken steps to increase capacity and boost productivity in the two maritime gateways of the country: Tema and Takoradi.
VRA said it was increasing capacity at its Takoradi thermal plant to 660 MW from 550 MW, and switching from liquid fuel to gas to cut costs.
The port of Takoradi and its twin city Sekondi, midway between the Ghanaian capital Accra and the Ivorian capital Abidjan are determined to be ready to cash in on the oil when it starts to flow in 2010.
