Web: www.talimenascenicdrive.com Description:Stretches across the top of the Ouachita Mountains in eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, the highest mountain range between the Appalachians and the Rockies. Provides access to recreation destinations such as the Ouachita National Forest, the Winding Stair National Recreation Area, as well as Cedar Lake Recreation Area. The Ouchita National Forest features more than 700 trails for hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles, including the Ouachita National Recreation Trail, a 194-mile trail that traverses the forest.
Legth: 54 miles including 38-mile section in Oklahoma and 16-mile section in Arkansas. Start/Endpoint: The Oklahoma section runs from 8 miles east of Talihina, OK (at the western border of the Ouchita National Forest) to the Oklahoma-Arkansas state line. Time to Allow: 1 hour (Oklahoma section) and 30 minutes (Arkansas section). Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005).
