Tallapoosa River

River, Georgia and Alabama, U.S. Rising in northwestern Georgia, the Tallapoosa flows southwest for about 268 mi (431 km) before joining the larger Coosa River just north of Montgomery, Ala., to form the Alabama River. Three private power dams have created reservoirs, including Lake Martin, for river control, power, and recreation.
