Tananaev, Nikolai Aleksandrovich
Born May 6 (18), 1878, in the village of Serpovoe, in what is now Morshansk Raion, Tambov Oblast; died June 7, 1959, in Sverdlovsk. Soviet chemist. Member of the CPSU from 1948. Tananaev graduated from the University of Iur’ev (now Tartu) in 1908. He was a professor at the Kiev Polytechnic Institute from 1921 to 1937 and at the Urals Polytechnic Institute from 1938. His main works dealt with analytical chemistry. He developed spot test analysis, fractional analysis, and nondestructive methods of analysis. Tananaev received the State Prize of the USSR in 1947.
